NAR Ethics Requirement
As a member of the National Association of REALTORS® and the Greater Louisville Association of REALTORS®, you must fulfill your Ethics obligation bi-annually. The current cycle (Cycle 5) began January 1, 2017 and ends December 31, 2018. Cycle 6 will begin January 1, 2019 and end December 31, 2020.
Failure to do so will result in a suspension of your membership privileges with the Greater Louisville Association of REALTORS® (GLAR) and National Association of REALTORS® (NAR®).
Members who are “Grandfathered” by the Kentucky Real Estate Commission (KREC) may still be required to satisfy this NAR® requirement. Only Emeritus members are exempt.
The Greater Louisville Association of REALTORS® offers the following options to fulfilling your Ethics requirement:
- You can take an Ethics course at GLAR. The course description will state whether or not the class fulfills the NAR® Ethics requirement. This option will also fulfill your continuing education requirement.
- You can take an on-line Ethics course through the CE Shop, which can be found on our website under Online Education. This option will also fulfill your continuing education requirement.
- Finally, you can take a free on-line course on the NAR® website: https://www.nar.realtor/code-of-ethics/training This will not count for continuing education credit.
COMPLETED WITH ANOTHER PROVIDER?
If you have completed your Ethics requirement through another provider, please fax a copy of your completion certificate to the GLAR Professional Development Department at 502-893-8787 or email it to email@example.com so that me may record it in your member record.
Secondary members of GLAR, please contact your primary REALTOR® Association for more information about this requirement.
ARE ETHICS & CORE THE SAME THING?
No, they are not the same thing. Ethics is not the same class as the Kentucky Core course. Core is a CE requirement of the KREC. Ethics is a membership requirement of NAR®. They are two different requirements.
